Hello there. I have a few questions about the Hubwatch for windows v4.0 A customer in the UK is asking why he did not get the latest firmware with the hubwatch software. As far as he was aware he was buying hubwatch and it would give him the firmware too. I have looked in the 1995 Networks Products Guide, (the big thick green and blue book),a nd on page 7-5 is states that you can get the kit with the licence together. There is a partnumber for the firmware, but the note at the bottom of the page says it comes with Hubwatch, and is available free of the internet. Is this worldwide? If he bought the software then should he be getting the firmware. Another thing that confused him was that it stated in the SPD that all SNMP manageable products could be managed by hubwatch, and these included the decserver 90L+. What is should say, is it supports all products that run the left hitchcock protocol, and earlier rev decserver 90L+ ie A01 do not and are not manageable. Can someone please give me some idea as to what is the correct shipping pattern here. The customer wants me to log an IPMT to get the documentation changed. I can answer part of your question... Any rev whatsoever of the DECserver 90L+ is manageable via HUBwatch. However, to manage any rev whatsoever, you need a DECagent 90. The only difference as far as HUBwatch is concerned is that for older rev 90L+'s, you need to use the Configure->Add Module pop-up to manually add the 90L+ to the hub (and this needs to only be done once). For newer rev 90L+'s (anything built in the last few years), this happens automatically. (btw, The DECserver 90L+ is not an SNMP device; the DECagent 90 translates SNMP into MOP on behalf of the DECserver 90L+.) |
