2922.0. "Network Management for redundant devices" by HGOVC::MANJREKAR () Mon Oct 30 1995 05:14
( Cross-posted in Netview conference)
Hi,
My customer has a central management station (Netview) with Hubwatch
managing a FDDI network. The network is fully redundant such that there
are redundant DECHub 900's, redundant repeater and redundant
transceiver's to the workstations at the user end. All the redundant
devices automatically fail-over incase of malfunction.
1) To manage this kind of network and reflect the status of the
redundant devices from Netview/Hubwatch do I need to :
- View the redundant devices as two different manageable devices (
independent IP address), though functionally they will be one
device.
- Will the failover functionality work with different IP address
configuration.
2) Can the Dechub-900 power-supply failure ( though redundant) be
reflected on the Hub-watch console.
Would appreciate any answers.
Thanks in advance,
Shailesh Manjrekar,
HK Technical Support.
