2903.0. "Missing nuts on the DEChub 900 chassis" by GRANPA::DFAUST (Bad Things, man...) Wed Oct 25 1995 19:49
I set up a new DEChub 900 today (serial # 1R52404006) that behaved
strangely out of the box. I put a DEFMM in slot 8 and DETMMs in slot 7
& 6. When I applied power to the hub, nothing came up. I removed all of
the modules, and a few minutes later, the hub powered up. After some
playing with the DEChub 900, I determined that the last four slots
(5-8) would "power down" the hub with minimal pressure on the DH90
connector on the backplane. I removed the back cover of the hub and
found that the ?power bus bar? (I think) was not held onto the two
posts there with nuts on the power supply side of the backplane. Also,
the power bus bar on the lower part of the chassis (on the power supply
side) was missing a nut as well. I got the customers maintenance
department to dig up the proper sized nuts, installed them and the hub
came up just fine.
Is this a known problem, or did I just have a really bad day?
