Customer has a mono-mode fibre and a multi-mode fibre between two buildings
(don't ask me why!). He wants to connect two DECswitch 900s together in a dual
ring. Since the DEcswitch only MF PMDs, does it make sense to do the above?
Can we assign one port in a DECswitch 900 EF to the back connector and use
the DEF1H to provide a SMF PMD? Note 2224 dated April 95 alludes to new
firmware being necessary - is V1.5.2 good enough?

What's the difference between 1.5 and 1.5.2 DEFBA code ... I thought
that 1.5 was the latest released version

Didn't you get your new firmware diskettes yet? Well, I did an the
envelope was marked V4.1A. I'd like to know who's responsible for the
labels. You CAN NOT tell by the labels what version of firmware it is.
Does anyone know who's responsible for the labels on these diskettes?

DEFBA152.BIN is in the DEChub Consolidated Firmware V4.1.1 Kit released
late last month.
V1.5 will allow you to use the mod PMDs on the DEF1H but I suggest that
you use the latest code.

Charlie, the release notes for all the DEFBA revs to date can be
copied from NETCAD::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.DEFBA.V1_X_X] where
X is the specific rev desired. The release notes describe the diffs.
Ted, the base note 2.0 describes what is in the consolidated kit
for firmware revs for each product released in that rev kit.
