One of my larger customers has Portswitch 900TP repeaters and thinks they are terrific... but they asked a why did'nt we do it this way question ... On the Portswitch grouping window ... why are the ports numbered 1-32 ... and not A1-A8, B1- B8, C1-C8 etc... The customer's reasoning behind this is that the Network manager creates the groups ... and then sends a technican to the closet to place the appropriate cables to the ports ... and has to translate the groupings to what they see on the front bezel of the 900TP ... i.e. group one ports 4,23,14 = A4, C7, B6 ... -Charlie

I can add another tick to the list, my customer just purchased the 900TP and we ran into the same problem configuring the module with HUBwatch, the customer had to develope a mapping diagram for his techs so they didn't have to use there fingers to count out the ports. -Richard -NIS VAO |
