| Mike,
I have no upgraded to MAM 4.1.0 and DEFBA 1.5.2 but there is still the
same problem. Here are the configs and error logs.

| Robert,
I have forwarded the information to the DECswitch developers. I can't
reproduce this problem. Can you give us a step by step cookbook to make
the problem happen? Maybe we are missing an important bit of info. Or
maybe there is a hardware problem somewhere.
Also, what is a DEFXU?
FYI, the MAM error log entry is not relevent, it is a harmless error
msg.

| Mike,
A DEFXU is the 8port FDDI Concentrator with no Mod PMDs.
To give a step by step cookbook is very simple.
Unpack the hub and modules
plug the psu(note its ONE H7894) and the module (DEFBA-MA) in
power on
wait until all comes up
set IP adresses for MAM and DEFBA
plug the notebook cable to one of the ehernet ports
start hubwatch 4.1
double click the DEFBA
select one of the ethernet ports to switch back
click apply or ok
DEFBA resets
Some other issues
only with the newest MAM Firmware(4.1) the hub recognizes that there is
a 163W PSU in and displays that on the LCD. The HUbwatch Message box
gives an error on the startup "wrong PSU chas index" or similar.
Today i am going to the customers site again to check if that hub works
with my other modules. Note that i CAN switch ALL ports on the
customers hub to the front or to the back. At that hub i have the
problem with the DEFBA restarts when plugging in the Concentrator(maybe
even another module, i have to check this today).
Q: Can it be an issue that there is only one PSU in the hubs, even i
have some Watts left with two modules. Does the modules need more power
when switching ports from the back to the front on hot swap?

Like I said, check all the pins.
If this switch is crashing, we'll need the error log for it also; you may
possibly have a hardware problem with it.

Changing ports front/back shouldn't affect the power allocation. It
looks like the switch crashing; not with power needs. We need to
figure out why the switch crashes. Is there something you are observing
with the hub behavior that makes you think it is power related? Like,
the LCD dims, the modules go unpowered (switch DC OK led goes out) or
something like that?
But to be sure, you might try plugging in an additional supply
temporarily just to see what happens.

| Mike,
Just fyi here is the results for all the problems. On the customers site i
had a DECswitch 900EF wich was defective(DOA), and in the office it was the
DEChub 900MS Backplane which was defective(also DOA). So there were two
different parts which caused the same fault. Thats bad luck.

Robert
