2815.0. "HUBloader hosed my DECrepeater900TM." by ROMEOS::HARRIS_MA (Sales Executive II) Fri Sep 29 1995 22:10

Is there ANY way to reset to factory the flash in a DECrepeater900TM?

I installed the latest Firmware kits (DCF V4.1.1) this morning and ran
HUBloader (4.1). The DEChub900 MAM upgraded just fine to v4.1.

I then pointed to the 900TM repeater, it showed the repeater was
currently running V1.1 firmware, and showed V2.0 to be the latest
available. SO... I clicked on the "LOAD" button.

    Poof!

It told me the transfer was starting and then within a few seconds told
    me the module was resetting.

NOW, the module is dead. The HUB900 LCD display shows it as an
(unknown) module, the lights on the DECrepeater900TM are lit strange
and even trying to use the HUB900 console to re-direct to the module
tells me the device is 'inactive'.

The repeater is dead. Is there any secret reset to known state type of
button or sequence I can use to get this bad boy running again?

It's not clear from your note if you tried power-cycling the repeater
(after waiting the appropriate amount of time after the upgrade).
Just remove/reinsert the module and see what happens. I'll bet you it
will be fine. If not, you will need to enable a BOOTP/TFTP server with
the repeater's MAC address to downline load it.

I did try to power-cycle it. And NO, it still looks DEAD. The LCD on
the DH900 backplane doesn't even recognize it.

I tried firing up the NetRider Loader application and entered the
repeater's MAC address and the IP address that it used to be assigned
to the to "Config...|Servers...|ADD". I then powered it UP and nothing
really happened. I did notice that the "Config...|Files..." now lists
a Requested File as "WW_08002BA2CD0B.DUMP" assigned to my Local File
    Name "2BA2CB0B.dmp" all by itself.

Still no repeater. What else can I do?

I have the same problem now after the firmware upgrade on a module.
Any suggestions out there to get this 900tm back to life?
