Is there any trick to getting the twisted pair ports on the defba going. I have one running in a hub with the fddi and aui ports in use. When I try to put a decserver 200->mau->port, to see if the port works, on any of the 3 remaining ports, one is sent to the back, I get no activity. Tried bn25g's and h's to no avail. The mau is an H3350. Thanks for any help. Dave

The cable you need to use is a BN24F crossover cable. The BN25G is straight through and the BN25H is for is an FDDI cable. Dennis Faust
2803.2 | 900EF UTP ports have no internal crossover... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | Thu Sep 28 1995 10:36 | 15
RE: .0 To follow up on this some more. The DECswitch 900EF UTP ports do not have an unternal crossover. This is a departmental bridge, and as such is not intended to directly connect to an end node (workstation). The PEswitch 900TX is a bridge that is intended as a desktop bridge bringing the 10meg bandwidth to the desktop. Thus its UTP ports have an internal crossover. So as Dennis said you will need to use a cable with a crossover when connecting to a UTP MAU. The DECswitch 900EF and 900EE being defined as departmental level bridges as such do not have internal crossover UTP ports. These two are the only HUB products with UTP ports which do not have internal crossover ports. This was a conscious decision by the product architects to position these DECswitch products in terms of their use and function in an extended LAN. Bob |
