2799.0. "recurring lockups with DECbridge-90" by CX3MAN::AMBER (Mark Amber, CNS-West (DTN)592-4645) Tue Sep 26 1995 12:58
At the CXO3 site, we have a recurring problem with DECbridge90s locking
up and not passing any traffic until they are power cycled. The
problem moves around between different bridges (not the same one each
time), but its been happening about once a day and is getting very
annoying.
We have about 50 DB90s on the LAN which we installed about two years
ago. They ran great for the first year and a half with flash V3.1.
Then we upgraded them all to V3.4 and they ran fine for about 3 months.
In the last 3 months we have had a rash of lockups - on average one per
day.
We tried upgrading the flash to V3.9 over this past weekend, but that
didn't seem to help any. We have had 3 lockups in the last two days.
We are really at a loss to determine the cause of this problem. Any
help or ideas from a DEChub engineering would be greatly appreciated.
Our next course of action is to downgrade back to V3.1, but we really
don't know if the flash version is the problem, or if there is
something "new" on the LAN that can cause these lockups.
Visibility of this problem is very high. The affected users are CSC
specialists who are on the phone with external customers. When these
lockups happen, the specialists loose all connections on their
workstations which include important systems such as CHAMP, STARS, and
CSC32 which are necessary for the specialist to take customer calls.
We are looking for assistance from DEChub engineering to resolve this
problem. If a formal escallation path is required, please let me know.
