2793.0. "community string as "password"" by DAIVC::IVAN () Mon Sep 25 1995 22:16
Dear all,
We have a customer that wants to change their DEChub 900 MS's
read/write community string to something other than "public".
Their consideration is security, since their business is in
administration of stock exchange. We have changed all of
the community string in their modules, as well as their hub 900.
But, if we try to configure/monitor the hub or network modules
from HUBwatch, we can still connect to hub/modules using
community string "public" and the new community string.
Do we miss something here? Our understanding is that community
string acts as "password" to manage the hub/modules.
Please... give us a hint... :)

| You have changed your read-write community string, but you have not
changed the read-only community string, which is still "public".
Take a look at note #1958.1
