2755.0. "probe sees MAC address of 00-00-00-00-00-01 ?!" by NYOSS1::PLUNKETT () Thu Sep 14 1995 16:08
Hi,
I've got a probe with V2.6 firmware, and Probewatch for windows 3.2
I have the ALL domain installed in NET mode, and when I bring up the
domain manager, select the ALL domain, choose Segment Zoom, my most
active host is MAC address 00-00-00-00-00-01
Weird, huh?
I have tried to grab packets with this address by running IRIS, no
luck. That's no big deal, because the card I'm using IRIS with,
won't scarf up bad packets.
I used the probe to capture packets, and when I upload the capture,
no packets with that address show up.
At this time, I don't have access to a sniffer, so I can't try that.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can figure out if this
address is a real or imagined phenomenon?
-Craig

| A couple of questions to narrow this down a bit.
1) Does this address show up if you set up the ALL domain in MAC mode?
2) On which parameter is your TopN sorting?
3) Does this address show up in the Host List, Conversation List?
Send me mail (NAC::FORREST), as I'm slow reading Notes.
