I am only some what familiar with spanning tree and
DSAP 42 messages, can someone explain to me exactly
what is happening when you disable spanning tree on
one or more of the ports on bridge, the reason I ask
is that I have a customer who believes if he filters
out the DSAP 42 packets that this is the same as disabling
spanning tree, but when we set up the filter is does not
have the same effect.
JD
I would also live to read a good description of spanning
tree and the packets/protocals associated.

Have a look at Radia PERLMAN's "Interconnections" (Addison-Wesley).
