2748.0. "Network errors with DECrepeater 900TM" by BACHUS::VANDENBERGHE () Wed Sep 13 1995 10:50
Hi,
I have a problem with connections to DECrepeater 900TM
The firmware version is detmm110.bin.
The sysmptoms are the following one.
Two CompaQ Windows NT servers are generating all kinds of errors (CRC,
short, Jabber frame etc..)when accessed (file copy).
All other equipments on the N/W are working fine.
We have changed the repeaters and the cables without success
The Ethernet card (PCI) is on the motherboard, so we have also requested
Compaq to change the motherboard also without success.
The we have installed a Etherworks3 card (DE205), problem was solved.
Now for performance reason we decided to use a PCI Ethernet card a
Digital DE435 one, guess what .. problem was back.
The last test we will do is use a repeater from another manufacturer
(Synoptics) to see if the problem is the same, but may be we can gain
some time if someone already experienced the same problem.
What I think is that we are confronted to a loss of synchronisation
between the Server and the Repeater (A similar problem is already
reported for DEC repeater 90 series)but this case with high
performant Ethernet card.
Is this possible, if yes, I know that there is a test version X2.02 of
the firmware, should this version be a solution ?
Best Regards,
Robert

| Just for the one who are interrested.
The problem was identified to be specific to NETbios,
Copying the same file with FTP didn't show the problem.
So we upgraded the NT version from 3.5 to 3.51 and we were not
be able to reproduce it.
Regards,
Robert
