Two DECstack config questions: 1.) Can I use ANY Ethernet means to connect to a stacked module? i.e. could I STAR out from a repeater to the floor above/below to connect? Some customers have 10-T wiring and may not care about an in-closet stack but to run thinwire between floors...uugh. So, can I use a 10-T to connect? (Yes, I understand repeater rules apply etc..) 2.) What is the distance limit for the management bus? How far can I go with a point-to-point connection? Note that NEITHER of these are called out in the product install guide. Regards, j

2741.1 | 185 meters for management bus | NETCAD::FORINO | Wed Sep 13 1995 12:38 | 5
To answer question 2 the management bus limit is 185 meters. I do not believe that there is an minimum/maximum cable length between two stack modules within the 185 meters. John

From the Digital MultiStack System Stacking Unit Installation and Configuration manual; "The total length of the management channel for the stack may not exceed 420 meters."
