2707.0. "HUBwatch V4.x documentation location" by CGOOA::PITULEY (DIGITAL=DEC: ReClaim TheName) Tue Sep 05 1995 14:38

    This might be a redundant question(s)...but I *have* done a dir/tit or two
    on this conference and the location of the HW V4.x documentation hasn't
    jumped out at me.

    1.) Does the HW package come with hard copy documentation?

    2.) Does the HW package come with soft copies of the documentation?

    3.) Where on the net is the HW V4.x documentation?

    TIA,

    Brian, take a peek at the pointer that I believe is in base note
    2346. There is a pointer for HUBwatch docs, and if you follow the
    directory tree back up you might see the path for the HW docs you
    may be interested in. ----> TNPUBS::DSA1:[PUBLIC.ONEHUB].

2707.2Should work....CGOOA::PITULEYDIGITAL=DEC: ReClaim TheNameTue Sep 05 1995 15:489
    Thanks, Bob.........

    The title of that note is not exactly what *I* would (have) look(ed) for to
    find docs....... :-)

    But thanks for the pointer...

2707.3It's a patented search algorythm I've developed :-)NETCAD::BATTERSBYTue Sep 05 1995 16:3913
    Welllll I found it in a rather round-a-bout way. :-)
    I did a dir/title=*doc*/since=1-apr-1995
    This narrowed it down to a bunch of topics that might prove useful.
    I looked at topic #2535 followed the replies until I saw John Forino's
    reply pointing to topic #2346
    voila! I came up with the pointer.
    Now if only we took advantage of the keywords we have at our disposal
    (& added some more keywords), it might be easier to find the treasure
    of neat info that lives in here. :-)
    Of course, I'll admit, I'd be the worst offender when it came to being
    disciplined enough to add keywords to topics. :-)

2707.4How did you miss Note 3?NAC::FORRESTThu Sep 07 1995 17:154
    The title of Note 3 says on-line documentation. I read the note and
    followed the pointer, and found the HUBwatch V4.0 manuals there. This
    area has the manuals for shipping products, so the draft V4.1 manuals
    are not there.
2707.5The TNPUBS doc location seems to be more current :-)NETCAD::BATTERSBYWed Sep 20 1995 10:4410
    <---- RE: .4 The reference to note #3 is well taken. However when
    viewing both the TNPUBS::DSA1:[PUBLIC.ONEHUB] path, and the
    NAC::NIPG:[HUB.MANUALS] path one is overpowered with the fact that
    the area on TNPUBS has almost 3 times the number of docs that the
    area on NAC has. Thus both areas don't seem to shadow each other.
    So based on sheer numbers the TNPUBS doc location is probably more
    current and up to date than the NAC pointer.
    Is the intention that both these areas shadow each other?

2707.6Been there, Done thisDELNI::BUZZELLWed Sep 20 1995 17:0812

    Ah yes one of my favorite topics. One of the issues with the TNPUBS
    area has always been the naming convention. Anyone with a PC can't
    easily access anything because the names are too long. There also
    is no FTP access to the files. So the area on NAC is there to fix
    both of those problems. Now UNFORTUANTELY just like this notes file
    no one has as their full time job keeping NAC up to date. So it is
    done on a time available basis. NOW if we could just get the issues
    with TNPUBS resolved or get someone there to copy NEW files to NAC
    then everyone would enjoy easy access.
