2702.0. "Can a PEswitch be used like this?" by STRWRS::KOCH_P (It never hurts to ask...) Fri Sep 01 1995 15:59
I have a customer who want to hook up a standalone PEswitch 900TX as
follows:
Port 1,2,3,4 - workstation
Port 5 - Kalpana switch
Port 6 - 3COM switch hooked to backbone
FDDI will be hooked up at a later time. So, it looks like they want the
backbone and the systems hooked to the Kalpana to talk to the
workstations on the PEswitch. If I've interpreted bridging correctly,
this should not violate the 64 address rule. Am I correct?

The only gotcha here is the forwarding db for all six Ethernet ports
combined is limited to 64 addresses.
If there are more than 64 addresses on the Ethernet side the bridge
will essentially be flooding.
