2678.0. "Problem HW 4.0 and Windows 3.1" by ANGLIN::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton (314)947-6763) Thu Aug 24 1995 16:12
A customer has recently installed HUBwatch V4.0 on a Compaq Pentium based
system running Windows 3.1. When HW is started the physical view of the
hub comes up o.k., and you can move around to different modules and
different views for a while, then Windows appears to get confused.
A some point the Windows graphics colors for the hub will either go away, or
turn to white-on-white - text is O.K. Any given window is partially
displayed with the remainder being blanked out.
When this happens, we look at the system resources, and only 3% of memory
is remaining. This system has a total of 32 MB memory. There are no
other processes running - only drivers have been loaded .
Are there any known resource issues that should be considered with HW 4.0?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
Merlin

Check the video driver they are using in Windows setup. I'll bet
it is one of the COMPAQ propritary ones. Try changing it to straight
VGA. I can't explain the reason for the problem but I have had recent
experience (can you say last week) setting up for training with the
same thing. These are after all PAD's (Personal Aggravation Devices)
that we are talking about.
