2676.0. "HUB900 firmware upgrade DECrepeater90C unmanagable" by PRIVAT::OTTO (...this is the last message You will ever hear...) Thu Aug 24 1995 11:57
Hello,
I have a question regarding the Upgrade/update Procedure for Firmware
for the various modules /modul Combinations .
A customer has 15 Hub900 equiped with various modules ranging from
DECBRIDGE 900MX DECswitch900EF DECconcentrator900MX DECrepeater90C.....
The customer upgraded all his upgradable modules to the latest Firmware
revisions available in the DCF kit V4.0
The Problem the customer has, is with the DECrepeater90C being not
managable anymore after the Upgrade.
According to the customer he gets the message
in the HUWATCH message Window when we manages a HUB900 with a
DECrepeater90c in Slot 6
(E) SNMP:request has no agent defined (Slot6)
the strange thing is that the DECrepeater90C in Slot6 is visible just like
the other modules but when the customer tries to click on it to manage it
he gets an alert box with "No agent specified for the slot mac address
please check the Hubwatch message window"
I had already one customer with the same problem and I fixed this by
removing the DECrepeater90C and reinserting it, but this is not always
practible and in the case of this customer it will take him days to plan
and do this, should it become nessesary.
So what is the best way to fix such a situation and to schedule firmware
upgrades ???
Thanks
OTTO

| I don't know what the problem is, but has he tried a remote reset of
the DEChub 900 MAM? If reseating works, then a reset often does as
well.
