2647.0. "DECbridge 90 hungs PC's" by KYPROS::CHRISTOU () Wed Aug 16 1995 11:16

	Possible DECbridge 90 hungs PC's.
	-------- --------- -- ----- -----

	I have a remote site with the following Customer configuration.

	SYSTEM:  VAX4000-500
	OPERATING: VMS V6.0
	PATHWORKS: V4.1
	DEWGB-M DECbridge 90  v1.14  EPROM V1.4

There are 160 PC's connected via 10Base T twisted pair to DECrepeater 90L
The DECrepeaters are connected to DECbridge 90's. There are 10 DECbridge 90's
located in different parts of the building. They are connected via fiberoptic
cable to chipcom board.

	The customer has reported that some PC's and terminals Hung. On the
PC's if he tries to execute programs he gets the message "Current drive not
valid" but he can do DIR command.

	The common factor in this situation is the DECbridge 90. On powering
down and restarting the DECbridge the problem clears.

	Any suggestions welcomed.  Thanks.   Andreas.

    Wouldn't you want to upgrade the firmware to V3.9 ?

    Thanks for your suggestion Pedro I have located both v3.9 and
    v3.1 kits. The release notes require FPROM 1.5 minimum and the customer
    has FPROM V1.4. Can you please tell me the kit I require and where it
    is located.

    Many Thanks.   Andreas.
2647.3Do you need to change it ?LEMAN::PAIVAHawkeye - Network Support @GEOFri Sep 08 1995 07:0011
    Andreas,

      Sorry for the late reply, but I've been on holidays.
      If you have to change the FPROM (are you sure you need it?), I suppose
    you'll have to contact your local Logistics (or something like a PRC) to
    get the FPROM...

      Cheers,

      Pedro
