2624.0. "What was the problem with DH900 new power modules?" by TOOK::MORRISON (Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570) Wed Aug 09 1995 11:38

I heard in Larry Walker's caf talk this morning that there was some kind of
problem with the new DH900 power module (H7894?) that is being mfd by a third
party in Austria, which resulted in production being stopped for a while and
delays in shipping DH900s to customers. He said the problem has been fixed.
  What was the problem?
I apologize if this has already been discussed here. I did a search under
"power" and "7894" and couldn't find anything sufficient to explain the situ-
ation to the uninitiated.

    Bob:
It seems there is some kind of "conspiracy" to keep problems like these
under wraps. So, don't feel bad that you didn't know. Many of the SE's
in the field are never advised of problems unless we trip over them in
our accounts. I spent ten years in the Navy and the term "didn't
happen on my watch" is as applicable here as it was there. Signed...
Ron "blindsided by unknown problems" Berndt.

P.S. We also had a term about being in a "mushroom farm" the definition
of which you may be able to guess... ;')

    Bob again:
I guess I didn't really answer your question in my .1 post. But as you
now there is a written "law" stating that we don't discuss future
products in the notes files. Well, I guess that pertains to future
subassemblies such as the new power supply H7894 as well. And I think
there is an unwritten "law" regarding the discussion of "problems" in a
"public" (albeit internal) notes database. I am sorry about the sarcasm
in these two posts, it is certainly not directed at you or anyone else
""in particular"". And maybe it is best if we handle "problems" on a
need to know basis "ntk" ...again a throwback to my Navy days...

Someone (I forgot who) from the hubs group called me last week and said he
would have someone call me and explain the problem. He hasn't called yet. For
now I will wait and see if I hear something.
