2623.1 | DEFINE versus SET | TOOK::BKWAL | | Wed Aug 09 1995 12:41 | 8 |
|
The DECserver products (90, 700 and 900) have a permanent set of
characteristics stored in NVram and an operational set stored in
ram. HUBwatch (and any other SNMP management tool) modify the
permanent set. This can be verified vis a "LIST PORT x" command.
When a port logs in or out the permanent characteristics are
copied from NVram into the operational settings.

2623.2 | Yes but!! | NETRIX::"[email protected]" | Steven Freke | Wed Aug 09 1995 12:49 | 11 |
| Hi There
Yes I understand the difference between the difference between the set
and the define commands.
But that this not the issue, the problem is why does the field entitled
current group dissappear from the screen. So all you have is
authourized groups.
Theory's anyone

2623.3 | Sure it's a "SHOW" command? | TOOK::BKWAL | | Wed Aug 09 1995 13:04 | 4 |

How exactly is the customer doing a "sho po ..."? If he is doing a
"LIST PORT x" from the server UI there is no current groups field
in that display.

2623.4 | Just checked | NETRIX::"[email protected]" | steven freke | Wed Aug 09 1995 13:16 | 6 |
| Hi there
I have just checked with the customer and he reckons that he is doing a
show port when this is happening.

Then I reckon I don't know. A SHOW PORT display on should have a line
for current groups even if none are enabled (it won't say NONE, just
have "(Current) Groups:"). If he has the before and after settings I
can see if it's reproducible.

2623.6 | DNAS v1.5 has been shipping for awhile | TOOK::BKWAL | | Wed Aug 09 1995 13:45 | 4 |

In the FWIW catagory DNAS v1.3 is very old. If this is bothersome
enough to file an IMPT the first thing you/he will be told is to
upgrade.
