2622.0. "HUBLOADER+DEPEA = NO TFTP" by PTOJJD::DANZAK (Pittsburgher ) Wed Aug 09 1995 00:29

I recently tried to use the HUBLOADER to upgrade a ROAMABOUT access
point. I tried for about 3 hours on Friday and 4 on Saturday to get
the *#($#$(#(*#( access points to load.

My configuration was a DECpc433SL with the DEPEA adapter.

I decided, just for fun, to try an existing ROAMABOUT access point to
connect in lieu of the DEPEA.

    It WORKED immediately!

The moral of this story - the DEPEA acted weird with HUBLOADER and
WOULD NOT do a TFTP load.

Also...note that modules with connects on the front (i.e. like the
access point) have only one 'engine' to talk with an RS232 terminal.
If they are plugged into a hub they may not talk out the front. So,
use the module stand alone if it appears dead. Also it may want to see
more than RX and TX...i.e. DSR or some other signal.

(sigh) AFTER FINALLY getting them upgraded!

    John,

I experienced a similar problem with a DEPEA on DECpc 425sl running
DECndu awhile ago ... I tried using a Pocket Xircom adapter and it
worked fine... I talked with one of the PCs techs and he said my PC was
really a AST and had heard of "strange" things occuring with the
paralell port ... I never tried to get it to work much after that ...

Parce-que j'ai les ordinateur tres vieux - cette DECpc 433SLc - un de
la famile de AST ordinateurs qui nous n'aime pas pour service. (Il-y-a

    fois. (sourire)

    ---
Because my computer is an old DECpc 433 - one of the family of "AST"
PCs which we don't like to service....(it was 4 weeks to service the
damn thing). And the Depea - hell - i never got it to work with NDU
for a Gigaswitch. I worked 7 hours in a little equipment closet at the
clients office and drove three hours to get there..a.nd the damn thing
    never worked.

I don't like our older porducts of Digital (i.e. DECPC433)

    ----
So please, give me that extra Highnote Ultra that you have...(grin)
