2602.0. "switch900 & repeater900 connectivity" by BBIV02::XFMV01::RANE () Thu Aug 03 1995 08:11

One of our customer has dechub 900 with DECSwitch900EE
and DECRepeater900TM. Thick wire backbone is connected
to AUI port of switch DECSwitch900EE with H4005 and tranceiver
drop cable. But unable to get ethernet connectivity to repeater
ports.

There is no default LAN connection made when SWITCH module is installed
in the HUB. So I gained access through HUB WATCH and configured
the AUI(10b5) port onto HUB backplane default ethernet. But still I am
not getting the ethernet connectivity to repeater ports.

H4005 ,tranceiver cables, UTP cables are known good tested parts.

Can someone explain me where I am going wrong?????????

Thanx in advance

g.k. Rane.

Hi Rane -

In the DECswitch, port 3 can be attached to the Thinwire
shown in the HUBwatch LAN Interconnect display. Thinwire
is the default LAN used by the DECrepeater900TM. (The
other DECswitch ports can be attached to other backplane
LANs, but not to Thinwire.)

Now, make sure the AUI port on the DECswitch is directed
to the front panel, not to any of the DEChub 900 backplane
channels.

That should do it.
