2517.0. "SLIP with modem directly to OBM port ???" by KAOFS::P_SAVOIE () Thu Jul 13 1995 23:37

    Hi,
    Is is possible to use a modem on the OBM port of the DEChub to do
    remote management using HUBwatch over slip ?
    If yes how is it done ? If this works it will save a lot of time in the
    field, but I guess it could always be done through a DECserver...

    Any replies are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Yes, it's possible; that is exactly what the OBM port was intended to
    do. Instructions on how to set this up are in the DEChub 900 manual and
    the HUBwatch Installation and Configuration Manual. Both should be
    accessible online from TNPUBS::DSA1:[PUBLIC.ONEHUB]

Hi,
Thanks for the reply...
I'm trying to accomplish this using Trumpet, I will continue the
discussion in the INternet_tools conference.

2517.3not for DECpacketprobe 90's OBMHGOVC::RICHARDLAMFri Jul 14 1995 16:1511

    I am glad to see Jack wrote "the OBM port" rather than "an OBM port" in
    .1. The reason for saying this is that .1 will work for the OBM port on
    DEChub 900, but not for DECpacketprobe 90. The latter looks for RI,
    while the former does not. I have almost lost a big PO because of this.

    Hopfully this reply will save other people's time in troubleshooting too.

    Richard, we have a DECpacketprobe image from Frontier now that supports
    SLIP without a modem. It is on NAC::NIPG::[MANAGE.RMON]NS3210.S if you
    want to try it. We will not be releasing this image, however, as it
    only partially supports NETWORK and SUBNET modes.
