Hello out there.
I have a DECswith 900EF and a DEChub ONE, with this combination can
I use the switch as a standalone repeater? What I like to do is put
two unix systems on two of the utp ports of the switch and both of them
will be able to communicate together.
Is this possible without any configuration of the switch with
hubwatch ?
Also I will to ask if I can use this switch or a concetrator 900
for the SNMP agent in a HUB 900.
I have a customer (STET) that bought two hubs 900. In one of them they
have one 900EF switch and three 900MX consertrators, on the other they
have one 900GM repeater and two 900MX consertrators. They want to put
on this FDDI ring all of their systems. I tried to use on one of them
the 900EF switch as an agent in the hubwatch but the hubwatch came back
with the message not response from the agent. Because I am new to some
of this could someone help me.
Thank you in Advance.
Angelo...

You might want to try to ping the in-band address for the hub when you
get the "no response from agent" message.
Remember that the switch or concentrator is not acting as SNMP agent
for the DEChub 900. It has its own internal agent.

How do you plan to connect the 900GM ethernet repeater in the
second hub if all you have in that hub are fddi concentrators? You
need a 900ef to bridge between the ethernet repeater and fddi.

I am sorry I made a mistake. The 900GM is going to go into the hub with
the 900EF and the two 900MX's and in the other hub will be only two
900MX consetrators.
Thanks to you all for the replies.
