I seem to be seeing several DECbridge 90s with what appear to be large values for the counter "Sys buffer unavail. errors:". Not being able to find an explanation for this in the DECBridge90 Manual, are these caused by a faulty Bridge or a backplane problem ? Bridge 1: Event counters: Sys buffer unavail. errors: 2,193 WG size exceeded errors: 2,890,525 Bridge 2: Event counters: Sys buffer unavail. errors: 805 WG size exceeded errors: 0 Bridge 3: Event counters: Sys buffer unavail. errors: 166 WG size exceeded errors: 0 All three Bridges are running DEWGB V2.2 and FPROM V3.1. Giles.

Jean-yves, I have 22 DECBridge 90s of which 17 are at firmware version v3.1 and only five are clean of system buffer errors. The other 12 range from a couple of hundred, to four that have massive totals. The worst four list 2193, 4586, 9292 and 22754 for system buffer errors. Now these four are all running DEWGB V1.14, but even the ones running V2.2 are showing these errors although not as many. Giles. | |||||

1/ Do you have any errors on the cable where are hooked these bridges 2/ "System Buffer" is a very old symptom, some improvements have been done in new Firmware version.started with V3.0 and in a new hardware referenced with ROM V2.X i don't know if this information can help you, may be a quick check of Traffic on the wire ( Utilization, errors collisions) will be more useful. jean-yves |
