Please explain how backplanes are upgraded? (I can explain the hardware migration but can you help me with the Firmware with a discription of" Hubloader)"and how firmware releases are upgraded? I am researching an RFP that is due in a couple of days, and I need some good verbage on the hub mam firmware upgrade process. I'm looking through my training materials, but so far I don't have anything. Thanks, Ron

There is no hardcopy manuals associated with the HUBloader. All the information associated with the HUBloader is in the online help. I would suggest looking at that for more information. All together we are talking about eight pages of documentation here. I quick explanation of how it works is as follows. Along with HUBloader you install the DEChub Firmware Consolidated kit. This contains all the firmware upgrade files along with an information file - dcffiles.dat - that HUBloader uses. HUBloader uses TFTP to load modules. The only modules HUBloader cannot load are those that require MOP loads - the DECbridge 90 and DECagent V1.1 or earlier. To load a module all you need is the IP address or agent name of the module, the community string, the file name and the IP address of node containing the TFTP Server (usually the node you are running the HUBloader on). You can also create a load file that contains all this information for multiple modules which can then all be sequentially loaded. Please check the online help for more detail. John
2427.2 | How about the HUB MAM? | SOUPER::COOPER | Ron Cooper | Mon Jun 26 1995 10:31 | 1 |
What I need for the rfp is how the process works in the hub itself. Thanks.
2427.3 | Same process | NETCAD::FORINO | Mon Jun 26 1995 13:26 | 3
The process works the same whether upgrading hub modules or the hub itself. John
2427.4 | But what happens in the modules? | MXOC00::CSILVA | Wed Jun 28 1995 16:12 | 8
I remember looking at the 90FS manual for a detailed description for the upgrade process. As John said, the same is for the MAM. I think that you could find similar material in the manuals of other modules. Carlos |
