Please contact Jack NAC::Forrest, the HUBwatch product manager, for questions
about HUBwatch futures.

    Jim,

    	In the short term, this device will have it own proprietary
    management software since it is a 3rd party product buyout. Personally,
    I don't think it will happen since next year we have programmed
    announced our own Ethernet/ATM 900 series modules. However, I'm not
    product management and don't make those decisions.
2407.3yeah , you blend ODIF11::LICATAWed Jun 21 1995 12:5726

    Understanding it is a buyout how do we make is appear to be part
    of the Digital Networking "family".

    Th eproduct does help us overcome a few holes in the product line and
    it appears to line up well with the Envisn strategy.

    It even allows us to go after the Token Ring switching market.

    If we stress the buyout with customers we run the risk of driving the
    potential customers away from us and directly to the product
    originator. It would be nice if we could use this product to
    increase OUR product sales and Vnet strategy.

    So back to the begining -- how do we make this product blend into
    our full suite of product offerings.

    Who is the product manager for the DECswitch 400 ?

    I believe the only configuration that we will be offering is Ethernet
    to ATM. Pete Dunbeck and/or Rick Forberg are the product management
    folks for the product, and Jack Forrest for network management.
    Any further questions should probably go to them.

    A correction: the product manager for DECswitch 400 is Bernie Zarin.

2407.6Ds400 Management will have Digital nameNAC::FORRESTThu Jun 29 1995 11:538
    The DECswitch 400 will have its own management application, and I
    believe it is being given a Digital logo and name. Bernie Zarin
    would know for sure.

    We will not go to great lengths to integrate it with HUBwatch, since
    it is an interim product. There is also the problem that it will not
    be available on all the same platforms/OS as HUBwatch.

	I've heared that the management SW for the DECswitch 400 is called
	OMNIwatch (sp?).

	How can the switch be managed yet ?

	When is it availible ?(FT)

	Where can I get a copy ?
