2399.0. "LB150 to DEFAR link?" by VAXRIO::ROLF (Vaporware Design Specialist) Tue Jun 20 1995 10:45
(cross-posted in the Ethernet notefile)
The field is trying to make a Remote LANbridge150 talk to a DEFAR-AA, via
only a few meters of fiber (yes, we tried attenuators), yet they
flatly refuse to cummunicate with eachother. Their behaviour is as if
the fiber were nonexistant.
Each box passes self-test, has been swapped out, and the fiber link has
been tested with turn-around at its other extreme.
What are we overlooking?

Check out the Lanbridge150 documentation - it says this can only
connect to another 150 or to a DEREP repeater.
I believe these products use a DEC proprietary fibre standard
as opposed to the foirl and 10basefl standards implemented in
more modern devices such as the DEFAR.
