Hi, Customer would like to know the TRAPS sent from DS900EF in regarding to the FDDI interface's events? (PS I look at RFC1285, but there is NOT traps defined) and customer will run their FDDI ring using DS900EF, and sent traps to Polycenter Netview station when something happen to their FDDI network (e.g. dual home link is switched to M-A, A-B link is down, etc..) Thanks in advance for help Andrew Chiu - Network services sydney

First, RFC 1285 is not implemented on the DECswitch 900EF -- instead, it implements the latest FDDI MIB RFC 1512, which is designed to work with the latest approved ANSI FDDI SMT, sometimes referred to as 7.3, but more correctly X3.229 now that it is published. (1285 is compatible with an earlier, outdated draft of the SMT - 6.2). Secondly, no traps are sent specific to FDDI info; however linkUp and linkDown are sent on both FDDI and Ethernets when the interface comes up or goes down. These are standard SNMP traps, not specific to any particular datalink technology. Anil |
