2230.0. "FDDI configuration guide, DC900TH/PE900TX?" by WARABI::CHIUANDREW () Thu Apr 27 1995 21:51

    Hi,

    1) Could someone clarify the support of FDDI configuration for
DC900TH, PE900Tx and DEChub ONE-MX? Referring to FDDI
configuration table (extract from Network Academy 1994) where it
only mentioned DC900MX and DS900EF or is there any update when WAVE 3
    firmware release:

    Port A	Port B Behavior
    ------	------ --------
    M Legal, tree configuration
    		M Legal, tree configuration
M M Legal, dual homing configuration
    B Legal, wrapped ring
    		A Legal, wrapped ring
    B A Legal, Dual ring
A Illegal, Digital Votes NO but will connect
B Illegal, Digital Votes NO but will connect
    S Legal, wrapped ring
    		S Legal, wrapped ring
S S Legal, Dual ring wrapped by S stations
S M Illegal Peer/Tree but Digital will allow
M S Illegal Peer/Tree but Digital will allow
S A Legal, Dual ring wrapped by S stations
B S Legal, Dual ring wrapped by S stations
    B M Illegal Peer/Tree, Digital picks B connect
    M A Illegal Peer/Tree, Digital picks A connect

What about the support configurations for M-ports on DC900MX/DC900TH?

    2) What is the firmware version of DEChub900 that supports
    PORTswitch 900CP/900TP?
    3)	What is the HUBwatch version to config PORTswitch 900CP/900TP?

    4)	Does DECswitch 900EE provide FDDI backplane connections (similiar
    to DECswitch 900EF?

    5) In building a FDDI TREE configuration, how many level of M-S, M-A or
    M-B that we can go?

    thank you for any input/idea.

      Hi,

     Some answers

     >>What about the support configurations for M-ports on DC900MX/DC900TH?
in Front Panel M-ports are already supported
Next version of firmware + HUbwatch V4 will support M-ports under
       Backplane.

     >>What is the firmware version of DEChub900 that supports
     >>PORTswitch 900CP/900TP?
       Next release (may be V4)

     >>What is the HUBwatch version to config PORTswitch 900CP/900TP
       V4

     >> Does DECswitch 900EE provide FDDI backplane connections (similiar
     >> to DECswitch 900EF?
No, EE means Ethernet to Ethernet EF means Ethernet to Fddi

to add to Jean-Yves reply , the PEswitch has 6 front RJ45 Ethernet AND a backplane FDDI (AB) connexion

this is a very intersting point to tell customers if they want to have multiple PEswitches interconnected
together with backplane

have a look at note 1597 from Karl Pieper about FDDI configurations
