| As I know PEswitch should be able to do it now DECswitch will need new
firmware.

2224.2 | Need a precise answer for a sale... | DPDMAI::DAVIES | Mark, SCA Area Network Consultant | Thu Apr 27 1995 15:48 | 20 |
| Tahnks for the response, but if possible, I need a answer that I know
is factual. Re: .1, the statement made included the word "should work
for the PEswitch".
I am about to make a ssales of about 5-10 PEswitches and DECswitch
900EFs. They are at remode sites (within 5 miles) and are connected
only by SMF fiber.
I will restate my questions:
1. Does the PEswitch currently support SMF connection via the DEChub
ONE? If not, will it and when.
2. Does the DECswitch 900EF currently support SMF connection via the
DEChub ONE? If not, will it and when.
Thanks,
Mark

| The NEW (no twisted coil of fiber) SMF PMDs are available for the
DEF1H and the DESBF (1.0.2) can take advantage of these NOW.
The DEFBA will have to wait for the next release of its fw to take
advantage of the DEF1H FDDI connections. As for when; contact the PM,
Jack Forrest.

2224.5 | DEFXS=BA is the new ST module (no loops) | NPSS::KIRK | | Fri Apr 28 1995 09:50 | 10 |
| The NEW SMF PMD product code is DEFXS-BA. We are still selling the
DEFXS-AAs, which have the coiled fiber loops. You will want to be
sure to order the DEFXS-BA module, not the -AA module.
We are continuing to sell the -AA (which work fine in cards that are not
limited by space - such as the Gigaswitch/FDDI) in order to avoid
having to scrap modules already in finished goods inventory.
