2219.0. "Problems with MMF mod PMDs for FDDI?" by ANGLIN::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton (314)947-6763) Wed Apr 26 1995 10:05

Is anyone aware of known problems with the FDDI MMF Mod PMDs?

We ordered a couple for a DEChub ONE MX to setup a live FDDI link at a
trade show, and they were put on manufacturing quality hold.

Since I am under the gun to get this live FDDI network connectivity installed
in a test bed, I need information to make a decision on the best way for
the poiont-to-point FDDI connectivity.

The plan was to have a PEswitch connected to a DEChub ONE MX with MMF FDDI
connectors on the DH One at a remote booth. This would be connected via
MMF fiber to the main DH900MS using one of the front bezel MMF ports on a
DECswitch 900 EF.

If the MMF PMDs for the DH One are not available, I am going to try to
find a Concentrator 900 MX module, and use UTP PMDs between the two end
points.

Any information on the known problems with these MMF PMDs will be greatly
appreciated since I have only the rest of this week to decide which approach
to use.

Thanks.

Merlin
