Hi,

We are propose a solution to one of the customer down here who want to use
a software that using RMON. I have a couple of question that i don't find
any answer. Here is the questions:

        1. Management protocol SNMP and CMIS/CMIP over TCP/IP?
        2. Support external database Progress?

The first question i don't have any idea what is CMIS/CMIP and the second
question, the customer have a lot of experince with Progress database.

RMON is an SNMP MIB. The SNMP is used to retrieve and set objects
in the RMON MIB. DEC's ProbeWatch software uses SNMP.

I don't know of any CMIP equivalent to the RMON MIB.

CMIP of TCP/IP is often call CMOT. CMOT was proposed several years ago.
Very few vendors have implemented it. CMOT generally thought of as a
bad idea whose time has passed.

Can you elaborate on this?

    Shawn,

Thanks for your help. About the Progress database, the customer want
to access data from his Progress database in order to generate
additional report. They don't know yet what kind of report, but they
want to make sure that this feature its available.

    Hope this help.

2196.3No direct database supportNAC::FORRESTFri Apr 21 1995 18:065
PROBEwatch does not support any database directly. It can, however,
export data in Comma Separated Variable (CSV) format. It is my
understanding that many database applications and spreadsheet
    applications can import CSV format.
