2155.0. "Help Needed with Firmware Upgrade" by ANGLIN::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton (314)947-6763) Thu Mar 30 1995 09:26

I have a D900MS that needs to be upgraded from V2.2 to 3.1 of firmware.
I have a demo on Monday morning, and I'm looking for the fastest most
efficient way to upgrade the firmware since certain things do no appear
to work with hubwatch which I will detail later.

The topics in the conference, the release notes, and documentation have
me somewhat confused as to the fastest way to get this accomplished. Indeed,
I've been spinning my wheels now for nearly two days, pulling kits and
installing software in preparation for the upgrade, and I am still not sure
that I'm on the right track.

Following is what I've done so far:

1. I've pulled and installed the consolidated firmware kit for DOS.
2. I've pulled and installed the consolidated firmware kit for VMS.
3. I've pulled and installed hubloader for windows.
4. I've pulled and installed NDU+ for VMS.

I was hoping to use hubloader for the upgrade since I used it in DEChub
configuration training in early March, and it was relatively easy. However,
when you get to the step where it says "select menu option 9", I have no
menu option 9 with V2.2 of the Hub Manager software which is something
like "download upgrade". So is there a way around this?

Can I go from V2.2 to V3.1 with Hubloader?

I have NDU+ installed on a VMS machine, and thought maybe this would fast.
However, I'm having trouble invoking NDU on the VMS machine and have not yet
figured out why.

I'm running out of time. If I don't have this configuration up and running
by day's end, I'm going tro have to pull the plug on the demo on Monday
morning.

So if anyone out there could give me steps on how to get this done, I would
appreciate it greatly.

Merlin

BTW... I'll post the problems that I'm having with HUBwatch in another
	note.

2155.1Just use HUBloaderNETCAD::FORINOThu Mar 30 1995 13:089
Just do it all from the HUBloader. Give the IP address of the HUB and
hit show. HUBloader show display V2.2 as the current version and
V3.1 as the latest. Select Direct and hit the load button.

Make sure you have the consolidated kit on your PC and make sure
the TFTP Server (the NETrider EZloader) is running before you attempt
    the load.
