2133.0. "DECpacketprobe 900??" by OPCO::NET_JPM () Wed Mar 22 1995 21:14

Is there such a beast as a DECpacketprobe 900 to monitor ethernet segments in a
DEChub 900 ?

With a packet probe 90 I have to send someone to site to change the segment that
is being monitored.

Thanks,
 John

There is a DECpacketprobe 900RR, but that is a TOKEN RING device.

There is no max-sized packetprobe.

What one of the people here did was to reserve the ThinWire for use with
the packetprobe, and selectively switch the ThinWire to one of the flex
channel Ethernets (using a repeater). In that way, he was able to probe
any Ethernet channel using the 90 packetprobe.

    Aw gee Tom, I was going to answer .0 but instead I ended up talking to
    a customer for 7 hours helping them get their network upgrade to a
    respectable $150K. The sacrifices one must make, sigh.

    PS. They also loved the idea of getting one P/P to switch thru the 6
    Ethernets in the hub with just a click of the mouse. They have a dozen
    buildings all in a 1.5KM radius so it will save a lot of walking.
