Hi, We are confused about the following FDDI/ DEChub900 config. I think the main point is: can the A or B port of a 900 EF function as an M-port. The picture looks like this: backplane =================== side: || || || B A || ||B +----------+ +----------+ | DECswitch| | PEswitch | | 900 EF | | 900 TX | +----------+ +----------+ A || frontpanel || side || || S-port +---------+ | DEFEA | | SAS !! | +---------+ Will this work or do we have to wait for a newer firmware release? There is no need at all for a dual ring (is this setup) Regards, Ton (who-is-looking-forward-to-the-ultimate-answer) [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

A-S or B-S connections are fine. But, you end up with a single ring and you lose the built in redundancy of the dual ring. > Will this work or do we have to wait for a newer firmware release? > There is no need at all for a dual ring (is this setup) Not sure what newer firmware release you're referring to? re. 1 Bill, the firmware question was suppost to mean only in case the S-port would NOT connect yet to the A or B port. since you state that it WILL connect this question is not applicable. ton. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
