2077.0. "ManageWORKS Install Problem" by DPDMAI::DAVIES (Mark, SCA Area Network Consultant) Tue Mar 07 1995 15:47

    If this is not the correct Notes conference for ManageWORKS, please
    give me a pointer and I will move my question.

    I installed ManageWorks on my DECpc 433 running PATHWORKS V5.1 and
    everything went well except I get the following error messages when
    invoking ManageWORKS:

    	Unable to communicate with Event Dispatcher.

    	Event Dispatcher unable to setup its TCP port.

    I made all the requested changes to PROTOCOL.INI and PWTCP.INI.

    I installed the Demo kit from CD.

    IP Auto Discovery and Map Generation worked just fine.

    Any ideas as to what the Event Dispatcher problem might be?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    PS This is a GREAT little SNMP manager to complement HUBwatch
    		and PROBEwatch.

2077.1?installed SNMP ManagementNETCAD::WAGNERCOFFILTue Mar 07 1995 18:3015
	The correct notes file for ManageWORKS issues is
	NOTED::PWDOSWINV5.

	Through the Management Module Setup icon in the ManageWORKS
	group, did you install SNMP Management?? This uses the
	Domain Name Resolver(DNR.EXE).

	Make sure that you copied the 3 files from the ManageWORKS
	kit. WINSOCK.DLL and DNR.EXE goes in the PW IP stack
	directory, C:\PW. DECPW.386 goes in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
	directory. Make sure that DECPW.386 DOES NOT EXIST
	in the \WINDOWS directory!

2077.2Make sure DNR.EXE is loaded.NETCAD::WAGNERCOFFILTue Mar 07 1995 19:1811
	Also, make sure DNR.EXE is loaded in your PATHWORKS Template
	file (CFGnnnn.TPL). Loading of DNR.EXE is not included as
	the default for the TCPIP template, you must specifically
	select DNR.EXE to be added to your template. If DNR.EXE is
	not in your template, add it through PATHWORKS Configure
	(PWSETUP) utility. When you select TCPIP, select Details,
	and X the DNR.EXE box.

    Thanks. I will move this note to NOTED::PWDOSWINV5.

    For those in NOTED::PWDOSWINV5, I have checked all the items mentioned
    in .1 and .2 and everything looks good.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

please use NOTED::MWDEV.NOTE for ManageWORKS Workgroup Administrator
problems.

But, to give you some help here, do you have an entry for
your local machine in the hosts file? The event dispatcher
needs that.
