| Every MIB for every DEChub product is available via Internet ftp
on gatekeeper.dec.com.
Elsewhere in this conference is the exact locations and names for
each mib. There's also readme files on gatekeeper.

| And why don't they want to use HUBwatch? (Serious question - please answer)

This an integration project with specific SW developments which we sold to the customer. In fact, we convinced
them to use a DEChub for security reasons mainly (Ethernet segmentation) when we built the configuration. The
management part was handled seperatly because they required an overall SNMP management solution and there was no
special focus on network management. But we will propose and demonstrate Hubwatch after the acceptance but we
cannot push it right now for various reasons. I think they will be interested in buying it before deploying the
project.
Best regards

2056.5 | Where's the IP service Module? | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO, (803) 781-9571 NIS Networker | Mon Mar 06 1995 16:08 | 16 |

I don't beleive that you will be able to manage this configuration at
all, unless you specify a module with IP services. Unless my documents
are out of date, neither the 90FA, nor the 90C repeater can supply the
Hub900 MAM with an IP address. I would swap the 90FA repeater for at
least one 90FS repeater. The 90FS should provide what you need.

2056.6 | CONFIGURATION GUIDE | ANNECY::WHARMBY_M | | Fri Apr 07 1995 09:14 | 38 |
| Hello,
To my surprise, this is what I discovered a bit late. However, the
customer is going to order new configurations and I shall be able to
swap modules.
I need two things:
o be able to configure the Hub with an IP address for in-band
management,
o be able to manage the modules mentionned above with Hubwatch.
I understand I need a DECagent 90 to be able to manage the modules
above. Also I need a module able to provide the in-band management
port.
Apart from management of the hub, the configuration is intended for
reliability of the Ethernet cabling. For instance, we have 2 redundant
servers which I want to place on seperate modules. The hub has redundant
power supplies. What else do I need to care for, in this case ? How can
I use redundant ports ?
Where can I find all these configuration details ? Architecture
information ? I need something like a configuration guide more than a
catalogue of products.
Best regards,
Marc

| You do NOT need a DECagent 90 to manage repeaters in a DEChub 900!!!
The only modules you need a DECagent 90 in a DEChub 900 for are:
- DECbridge 90
- DECbridge 90FL
- DECserver 90L
- DECserver 90L+
