2009.0. "DH900 and Repeater/Bridge crashes ?" by GIDDAY::STANISLAUS () Tue Feb 14 1995 05:56
A DH900 was installed two months ago and was working OK till today.
Today it crashed twice as reported by the Field Service engineer.
Unfortunately this is a large customer for Digital with many systems and
network products and over 20 x DH900 units of which he has had trouble with
3 already soon after installation - various problems - from a slot not
working to DR900TM crashes and systems therefore loosining connections.
This is a very important customer for us.
Anyway I will only talk about the current problem.
--------------------------------------------------
Configuration:
A DH900 with one DR900FP and one DB900MX and 3 power supplies.
The DR900FP connects to two remote DH900 units of which I do not have the
configuration.
System Power 15W
Available Pwer 290 W
5 V 58 A
15V 10 A
MAM is at ver 3.1, DR900FP at ver 1.1.1 DB900MX at ver 1.3 MFG.
Yes I will upgrade DB900MX to ver 1.4.
Symptom:
The Hub crashed and so did the DB900MX and DR900FP as reported by the
Field Service engineer on-site, although the DB900MX says Uptime 53
days. I was told there were 2 crashes within 30 minutes time.
The error log entries of DH900.
-------------------------------
Is this telling me power supply 1 is suspect ?

| What is the current sysUptime and current reset count of the Hub? It
doesn't look like the Hub itself crashed. A printout of the "show
current settings" for the MAM would show this for sure.
You definitely have a bad power supply in PS slot #1. It had gone bad 5
times over a span of 4 days. But I can't tell you when this happened
without the current sysUptime and reset count. This should not by
itself cause the Hub to crash, indeed the fact that the reset count is
the same for all errorlog entries shows that it had not.
(By the way, the timestamp for errorlog entry #67 of the MAM isn't
consistent with the other timestamps, I think you're missing a 0.
That's not important but merely wish to avoid having people confused.)
When the DR900FP crashed you lost connectivity to the Hub, perhaps that
is why it looked like the Hub & bridge had crashed. I'm sure the
repeater folks will look at this.
