| No. Currently HUBwatch V3.1 is being ported to SunOS and HP UX. (And we're
developing V4.0 on Windows, OSF/1, and OpenVMS)
If you need more, contact Jack "I'd like to hear how Digital can make
more money" NAC::Forrest, product manager.

Thanks, I was a little bit confused in front of customer knowing not
what to reply while I was presenting our strategic step forward with IBM
porting Netview to OSF/1 and the interoperability of our
'management software'
Now I am totally confused, but this is because I don't know Networking.

1997.4 | Need more demand for AIX | NAC::FORREST | | Fri Mar 10 1995 17:18 | 22 |
| It's easy to get confused in this business. Just a minor correction -
Digital ported NetView to OSF/1, not IBM.
We have to prioritize how we overload the engineers somehow, and
revenue generation potential seems as good a way as any. Thus far, no
customer has come forward and given us an ultimatum that they will only
buy our hardware if HUBwatch runs on AIX. We did get such input from
Sun and HP UX customers.
I figure it will cost us around $75K to port to AIX, plus ongoing
support costs. We need some assurance that we will get far more
than $75K profit from AIX customers. And I mean AIX only customers;
if a customer's first choice is AIX, but one of the supported Unix's is
a close second, then we should persuade them to go with second choice.
As usual, please let me know if you have a sales situation that is
dependent on a platform or functionality, which we do not provide
today.

We have sold various DEChubs into big blue accounts.
The customers using NV/6K for Networkmanagement.
Now they want to integrate Hubwatch into NV/6K.
Should be easy, they tought, because there is a thing called
Netview association.
But no luck => because no Hubwatch on AIX !
If there is no hubwatch for AIX they won't buy any other dechub
products in the future.
Think about the hub products we could sell here and not the
numbers of Hubwatch for AIX.
