1979.0. "Beginners Question Hub900/Agent90 and DR90FS" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (roland beck) Wed Feb 08 1995 09:32

Hi all !
I configured Hubwatch/Windows V3.1 with Agents for

- a DECHub 900 w/ DS900TM, DR900?? (TP, IP service) and a DR90FS

- a DECHub 90 w/ DAgent90 / DS90TM / DR90xx and a DR90FS

DECHub 900:
I can see all modules correctly, I can manage the DR900 and the DS900, but
when I dblclick on the DR90FS I get

	"No agent specified for the slot mac address -
	 please check the log msg in hubwatch startup window"

as error message. (I don't see a msg in a startup window !!!)

DEChub (Agent) 90:
the DR90FS is displayed as unknown,
Add Module won't give me a DR90FS as possible selection.

configuring the DR90FS as additional agent works fine !

Versions are:
Hubwatch for Windows 3.1
DECagent 90: HW=D01,ROM=BL05.00,SW=V2.0.16
DR90FS:	     HW=V0, RO=V1, SW=V1.0b

			any help appreciated !
				regards, rolan

1979.1Upgrade the firmwareROGER::GAUDETBecause the Earth is 2/3 waterWed Feb 08 1995 11:3511
One of the fixes for V2.1.3 of the DECagent 90 firmware was to handle a somewhat
erratic backplane response from the DR90FS. I believe V1.1 of the repeater
firmware also addresses this issue, so it is a good idea to upgrade both devices
to the latest firmware. The DR90FS is a discoverable device, so it will not
appear in the list of devices that can be added via HUBwatch.

For the DEChub 900 case, you do not need an entry in the agent table in order to
manage it. It is possible that the upgrading the repeater firmware to the
latest code will solve the problem in the DEChub 900. Please let us know.
