I searched around for a note but didn't find one that seemed to address what I consider to be a very obvious problem. What do do if the flash update fails and power goes away... I was trying to update a PacketPROBE 90 module using the, shall we say for politeness sake, "less than robust" PC version of decndup and after failing for the 12th time to get the update loaded we lost power. When it came back the probe announces on its console: "Branching to Flash code at Address 3006ab0" and just sits there. Not surprising since it had zeroed it. So what do I have now, a doorstop? -Bill V.

1942.1 | Fixed in next release??? | SEFI04::VOLKMAN | Mon Jan 30 1995 02:20 | 6
I found note 1204 which seems to imply that I now have a very expensive paperweight. I hope that this gets fixed in V+1 because I know some customers who would send the whole thing (hub et al) back to us because of poor design. Sigh, Bill V.
1942.2 | See note 1845. | TROFS::WEBSTER | NIS, London, Canada | Thu Feb 02 1995 14:08 | 10 |
See note 1845 for full diescription of problem. I recently had the same problem and had MCS replace the unit. Unfortunately, it was replaced with another V1 PacketProbe. I saw HUBload yesterday, so I am going to contact John NETCAD::Furino about becoming a test site....it may be only way to upgrade the probe on from a DOS system. -Larry
