Under the HUBwatch Repeater Port summary screen we can view all stations connected to a particular port. This display shows only MAC address with the IP address field set to all zeros. When can we expect the port summary details to show the Protocol address ??. If it is not possible for the repeater chip to learn the protocol address is it planed that Hubwatch will be capable of mapping known protocol addresses onto the MAC address. Another wish... Will HUBwatch ever have the capability to store a configuration file for each HUB under its control. As we are all painfully aware if the Firmware in a HUB/Module is upgraded or a module is replaced the configuration of the device is lost and must be manually entered. This is no big deal if there are only one or two hubs in a network. It becomes a major task if you have many hubs in a network and you try and upgrade from a central point. Jim

First wish, protocol addresses displayed instead of MAC addresses... We're trying to do that, in HUBwatch, on new windows. It may take a while before it's everywhere. For your second wish, a firmware config file through HUBwatch... That was on our wish list for V4.0, but it was dropped (it was considered lower priority than other new features, and we just plain ran out of people). If you'd like to get it in the next version, contact the product manager, Jack NAC::Forrest. Tom Hood HUBwatch | |||||

I just re-read your second wish. I thought you wanted a firmware config tool under HUBwatch. *That* function was postponed. However, what you really want is Backup and Restore. *That* function is being developed now. (You'll be able to backup the configuration of a hub or module into a file, and at some later time, restore that configuration) That will ship either as part of V4.0, or some time just after V4.0. ---- ---- Tom Hood HUBwatch |
