1912.0. "Intermittent SLIP to OBM port when using generic SNMP manger + Hubwatch" by WHYMAC::WEONIS::ALLEN (... Kapiti Coaster ...) Thu Jan 19 1995 14:16
I have successfully been able to set-up Hubwatch on a WFW PC talking via a
DECserver 90M port to the OBM of a DECconcentrator 900MX. I have in fact 2 x
DECconcentrators, and have connected to their respective OBM ports from the
same terminal server. As well as Hubwatch, I am also using a generic SNMP
manager called "SNMPc" produced by Castle Rock in the USA. My problem is that
when running both products at the same time, my slip connection to the
DECconcentrators seems to hang-up. If I reset the concentrators, it starts
working again for a short time. Does anyone have any idea what the problem
may be. I am using the Microsoft TCP stack, DECserver NAS V1.3, and have
setup the ports at a speed of 38400.
If I only run Hubwatch, it seems to be o.k. The problem seems to start
happening when I use SNMPc and interrogate the concentrator using the hubview
option, which uses the standard MIB2 MIBs to get the required information.
Thanks in advance.
Allen
