I have a few questions regarding the WANrouter90-ISDN product that
do not seem to be answered in previous notes. Maybe someone would like
    to comment/advise ?

    1. Routed Protocol support, will this be the same as
for the standard product (ie, DECnet, IPX etc) ?

    2. Can the WANrouter do "spoofing" for any of the supported protocols,
for instance, how will Novell SAP broadcast be dealt with ?

    3. Note 614.1 suggests that the only supported datalink protocol
is HDLC, which I assume is DEC-HDLC, is this correct ?
Are there any plans for PPP to allow interworking with other vendors ?

    4. What security mechanisms will be available (for accepting calls) ?

    5. When is the product going to ship ?

    Thanks in advance

    Colin

The delivery of the WR90EI (ISDN) is currently under discussion by
the Networks Products Business and CSS Annecy.

    Please contact Phillipe Roussin-Moynier (ANNECY::ROUSSIN), the WR90EI
    Product Manager, for further details.

As Steve as said you need to contact Annecy for the full picture as this product
is being done there. Here are a few things I do know but perhaps the folks in
Annecy can correct me if I am wrong...

>> 1. Routed Protocol support, will this be the same as
>> for the standard product (ie, DECnet, IPX etc) ?

It should support the same routing protocols as the WANrouter 90 V1.2 software,
ie DECnet/OSI and Phase IV, IP and IPX.

>> 2. Can the WANrouter do "spoofing" for any of the supported protocols,
>> for instance, how will Novell SAP broadcast be dealt with ?

Unfortunately it cannot do "spoofing" of any of the above protocols. However it
does support "dial-on-demand" over the ISDN in the form of ISDN Dynamically
Assigned routing circuits. These are analogous to X25-DA circuits over an X25
network, where a call is only established when there is data to send. I believe
the same restrictions apply that these are only allowed on level 2 routers.

>> 3. Note 614.1 suggests that the only supported datalink protocol
>> is HDLC, which I assume is DEC-HDLC, is this correct ?

I believe both HDLC and DDCMP will be supported. Certainly PPP will not since it
is not supported by WR90 V1.2 (it maybe in V1.3)

>> 4. What security mechanisms will be available (for accepting calls) ?

Don't know...over to you Phillipe?

Hope this helps,

Neil
