1877.0. "PROBEwatch protocol monitor question?" by WOTVAX::64021::Tim_Banks (Network Mercenary) Thu Jan 12 1995 10:04

With PROBEwatch 3.1 using the protocol monitor facility, a small box
appears on the right side of the graph, showing the legend for the
different colors on the graph display, DECnet=blue, IP=red etc.

Is there a way to customise what appears on the graph, so I can see for
example, the proportions of LAT, IP, DECnet, and OSI, plus the rest??

I can't see a way to do this, it looks like you just get the protocols in
the legend box. Also for example if I delete the AppleTalk domain in the
domain manager, the protocol monitor still tries to show AppleTalk data.

If the viewable protocols in the protocol monitor display are fixed, this
is very limiting for a such usefull facility.

	Thanks

Hi Jack

Is there a max limit to the number of domains (or ptotocols)
you can display on this graph?

I had -

#
#	Configuration file for Protocol Monitor
#
title: "Protocol Monitor by Type"
parent: ALL
children:	IP NOVELL DECNET LAT OSI MOPDL MOPRC

	- in there, and when I clicked the protocol monitor
ICON to start the display, it flashed onto the screen and
then closed almost immediatley.

Also, when I added the domains for MOPRC and MOPDL the
protocol monitor popped up arror windows saying the domains
weren't installed, yet the domain manager window shows them clearly.

Any ideas?

	Thanks again,

any errors message in console windows box of probewatch during the installation
of new domain (MOPRC/DL) ?

may be an ressource problem on the probe itself

Hi Jean-Yves

Yes I believe that it was a resource problem with the probe.

If I tried it with fewer protocols, or delted some unused
domains in the probe it worked OK.

Thanks
