1863.0. "Cannot open MediaBuilder Library file during HubWatch v3.1 installation" by HACMAN::HACK (Don Hack, NIS) Tue Jan 10 1995 15:13

I am getting the following error while trying to instal HubWatch v3.1 (net kit).

FATAL ERROR AT SCRIPT LINE 333
Cannot open MediaBuilder library file

I could not find any reference to this in the notes file or documentation.
MS-Windows v3.1, DECpc 425SL, DOS v6.x

What can I do to get this to instal?

Thanks ... Don

At what point during the install did you get the error?
The only time I have seen that one was when it somehow didn't
interpret the last message which is REBOOT. If you rebooted
the installation had in fact succeeded and everything worked.

If that isn't the case then more info like what Ethernet Interface
and what stack etc. as well as where in the install process.

I just tried to install today and I have the same problem described in .0.

I'm running Window 3.11 (WFW) over DOS V6.0 with the PATHWORKS V5.1
TCP/IP stack plus a few post-V5.1 patches to the stack.

The error box that comes up has a title of "Fatal Error!" and has two
    lines in it:

FATAL ERROR AT SCRIPT LINE 333
    	Cannot open MediaBuilder library file

    and an OK button.

If I move that dialog aside, I can see the "Installing Files..." dialog
    box, which looks like this

    Extracting file to d:\hubwatch\bridwin.hlp
    ************************ 69% ************

    Current Queue
    ******************** 57% *****

Press Esc key to terminate installation.

If I press OK on the Fatal Error dialog, the install stops.

FWIW, I'm trying to verify that ManageWORKS and HUBWatch can use the
same TCP/IP stack, so I tried the "Install HUBWatch only" option.
When that didn't work, I tried the "Install HUBWatch and network"
    option.

I sit at pole Q5 on LKG2-1, DTN 6-5438 if you want to come down for a
    look.

    regards,

    Pete

p.s., I'm using the kit from \\nac\nipg. I tried copying the kit
to another server and got the same problem.

I am at home right now and will return your call in the A.M.

I am running Pathworks v5.1 on the client and v5.0C-EFT on an OpenVMS
VAX Server. The diskettes were copied across the net and being
installed from a drive on the server. I installed a few of the ECO's
for v5.1, but not many. I am using a Xircom credit card adapter.

I do't remember the percentages, but will get them if you want them.
The error is very easily reproduced.
