My customer tried to upgrade a Packetprobe without any luck. He tried TSERVER within DECNDU (DOS) and also TFTP fron Chameleon TCP/IP. In both cases exactly the same behaviour: the initialization of the communication is OK but as soon as the first TFTP-data-frame is send to the probe it answers with TFTP-error "file not found". I attached what we captured with a LAN Decoder/Analizer. We carefully went through the V2.0 release notes but maybe we missed something. Who knows what happens here ? Somewhere in the V2.0 release notes is stated that uppon an "unsuccessful"message during tftp-upgrade to NOT RESET the prob. Why is this ? What happens if you do so ? Rgds......Peter | |||||

The ROM code, unfortunately, starts erasing Flash as soon as it finds the TFTP server. If your download fails, and you reset or power cycle, the module will jump to an empty section of Flash after completing self-test, and thus hang. A future ROM upgrade will correct this problem. |
