1840.0. "Frame type problem with DECbridge 900MX" by VAXRIO::VENTRIGLIA () Wed Jan 04 1995 13:04
Hi,
I have the following configuration. A DEChub 900 with a DECbridge 900MX
connected to it. In the FDDI port of the bridge I attached a PC with a DEFEA
board. In one of the AUI ports of the bridge I attached a thin wire through a
DESTA and plugged another PC to the thin wire cable.
The PC on the thin wire is a NetWare 3.11 server and the PC in the FDDI is an
ODI 3.11 NetWare client. I have the following situation:
If I configure the NetWare server with ETHERNET_802.2 frame type, and the
client PC with FDDI_802.2 frame type, it works fine. I can attach to the server
without problems.
If I configure the NetWare server with ETHERNET_II frame type, and the client
PC with FDDI_SNAP frame type (as sugested by the README file that comes with
the DEFEA board), the client PC does not see the server.
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?
Thanks in advance for any help.
regards,
Roberto.

1840.1 | Sounds like the bridge has "raw 802 IPX enabled... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Wed Jan 04 1995 17:47 | 5 |
| It was suggested to me that perhaps the DECbridge was configured
with "Raw 802 IPX" enabled. This should be disabled (which is the
default setting when the bridged is shipped.
